In my 20 years of being a developer, I've learned an immense amount from other developers. Developers who have shared their knowledge and experience on blogs, forums, conference talks, open source projects, and more. I can honestly say I wouldn't be where I am today without the contributions of other developers within the development community.

I've long wanted to make my own contributions but I always held back for fear of what my peers would think. "Why is he writing about that, everyone knows that already", "What a dummy, doesn't he know X is better than Y". These ridiculous conjured up judgements are the type of thoughts that have held me back. Instead, I simply toiled away and did my work in my own comfortable bubble. Never exposing my knowledge, or lack thereof, to the community.

That all ends today. This blog is my first step to making more meaningful contributions to the developer community. Whether it's sharing something small I've learned this week, or a longer more thoughtful rumination about software development. I want to give back to the community that has given me so much. I want to step outside of my comfortable bubble and push myself to be better community member, and a better developer.
